Corporate & Social Responsibility

CSR permeates the core of the way we do business, affecting our relationships with other businesses and with clients.

A Commitment

At the heart of our business is a concern about – nigh on an obsession with – the future. How we act today and how those actions impact our futures is a topic we believe deserves profound thought and attention.

In line with those underlying values, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) means more to us than saving paper: for us, CSR permeates the core of the way we do business, affecting our relationships with other businesses and with clients.

Environmental Responsibilities

Redington has ambitions towards achieving a paperless office and has already implemented a number of processes that take us closer towards our goal;

  • Office waste is recycled;
  • Consultants use public transport to visit clients’ offices, in order to minimise the firm’s carbon footprint;
  • The Redington technology team has recently launched an extensive virtualisation initiative, which essentially allows numerous servers to run on one machine, dramatically reducing the firm’s energy consumption.

Diversity

At Redington we are deeply committed to creating a diverse organisation where employees succeed based on merit. We do not recruit people with unique experiences and backgrounds just in order to comply with regulations, but because we fundamentally believe that individuality of experience and background is an integral part of strengthening our global business capabilities. Different perspectives bring strength and creativity to our work, which ultimately leads to the satisfaction of our clients.

In line with our equal opportunities policy, no job applicant to, or employee of, Redington receives less favourable treatment on any grounds not relevant to good employment practice. This includes race, ethnic origin, sex, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, creed, disability, age or political belief.

Charitable Work

We are immensely proud of our staff members’ charitable efforts and endeavours in the UK and abroad, so we support their fundraising as much as we can. Recent examples include:

  • SICHUAN Education Relief Fund was established to help victims of the 2008 China earthquake. All Redington employees’ contributions were matched by the firm.
  • The British Red Cross, The Disasters and Emergency Committee and the Tearfund charities all helped in the Haiti disaster relief effort. Redington raised an impressive £2,530 within the firm to donate to these charities.
  • Royal Marine Reserves is an organisation that provides support and relief to their full time colleagues of the Royal Marines in both Iraq and Afghanistan; Redington maintains an ongoing relationship with this organisation and participates in fundraising events on their behalf.

Social Responsibility

In the day-to-day running of the business, Redington selects to work with small, local enterprises whenever possible in order to support our community.

We have formed ongoing and strengthening partnerships with particular local businesses that share our commitment to CSR. We continue to work, whenever possible, with organisations that regard CSR as we do – as an integral part of their business.

St Anne's Boat Club (SABC) Sponsorship

Redington is proud to sponsor St Anne's Boat Club and support its continued success on and off the river. Our contribution has helped the club to invest in equipment and professional coaching, encouraging both the Men’s and Women’s boats continued success at Torpids, Summer VIIIs and external regattas.

Rowing requires endurance, precision, perseverance and lots of teamwork - all qualities that Redington values in its graduates and staff.

Redington's ongoing guidance and financial support has helped us greatly, both in defining our goals and priorities to maximise the club's potential, and providing the financial stability to invest in the future.
Recently we have been able to invest in top of the range equipment and employ a permanent, professional coach, largely thanks to Robert Gardner and Redington's support.
