Fusion Consultants
We combine extensive capital markets and investment banking expertise with traditional best-in-class quantitative actuarial analysis and consulting. Clients call our approach ‘pioneering’ is because we give advice that mixes the deep analysis a client would expect from a world class actuary with the practicality that only years spent in banking and asset management can bring.
This fusion means that clients receive advice that takes the whole picture into account and, perhaps most importantly, provides clear, practicable action points that we then help them to implement.
Independent
Redington offers totally impartial advice. The firm is solely owned by the founders and employees, with no external debt.
Innovative and Proactive
This organisation is built on the belief that the status quo is not always best. Pushing the boundaries is something we, as consultants, are proud to do in order to service the needs of our clients better: we go to our clients rather than waiting for them to come to us, and we go to the banks and asset managers to find out what they have to offer, instead of waiting for them to look for us.
This culture of proactivity means our clients are notified of opportunities and changes to the market environment sooner than their peers, and given clear action points with them.
Technology and Social Media
Technology does two crucial things. First, it allows the production of analysis that is of a level of detail and accuracy previously unheard of; and second, it enables social collaboration and sharing of information unparalleled at any point in history. From size three to size 45, technology has consistently proved to be a crucial part in driving success at Redington.
In a recent survey conducted by Microsoft, Redington was ranked in the top 10% of Financial Services in the UK for its use of technology.
So far, we have not only developed an in-house suite of proprietary analytics tools that aids us in our approach to consulting, but we have also developed a monitoring tool for the use of the industry as a whole. iRIS is a tool for pension schemes that monitors the scheme’s risk on a monthly or quarterly basis and helps stakeholders identify risks before they materialise.
Most of the consultants can be followed on LinkedIn and Twitter, and Redington has its own page on Facebook and LinkedIn too. We encourage the use of social media because these tools continue to transform the way we interact with others, and the way we do business; they increase connectivity, facilitate efficient access to information, and encourage collaboration within the pensions community. All of these, we believe, are good things.
Personality
As a small to medium sized firm, we look to establish long term relationships with all of our clients, who continuously comment on the friendliness and personal nature of their experience with Redington. We are passionate about what we do, and we are constantly told that this enthusiasm shines through into our work and our service.
Clarity of Communication
Pension funds face a mammoth task as it is; trustees should not have to struggle to translate the advice they receive into simple English. A part of our job that we take very seriously is the responsibility to distil complex ideas and concepts and explain them in easily understood, non-technical and jargon-free language. Our consultants have years of experience educating trustees on investments and pension risk management, so we consistently hear from clients that this is one of our traits that they value most.
Indeed, three of our senior consultants have trustee experience on one or more Defined Benefit pension schemes, so our work is always peer-reviewed before it goes out to a trustee board.
Culture of Excellence
Redington's growth over the last four years has been a direct result of enthusiastic, word-of-mouth recommendations from clients and of the firm’s maintenance of impeccable standards as it grows. This client satisfaction is what has helped us to gain the reputation for excellence and the growth we have, so we are conscious to grow only as quickly as we are able to continue to excel in every area in which we operate.
Rather than Redington demanding excellence of its employees, Redington employees demand excellence of themselves; consultants’ dedication to producing the best possible results for their clients shines through in client work, and therefore in clients' subsequent reviews of them. The only services we offer are ones that we believe we are the best placed to deliver.
